Applied Technology
Associate of Applied Science Degree
Manufacturing Pathway
Applied Technology
As a student in the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in applied technology program, you will first complete a state-approved career and technical education certificate program at one of the area technical colleges (ATC), including Delta-Montrose Area Technical College, Emily Griffith Technical College or Pickens Technical College. These programs prepare you with technical and employment skills. Some credits from these certificate programs will be applicable to CCD's A.A.S. in applied technology degree.
Once you have completed the ATC certificate, you will complete the A.A.S. degree in applied technology here at CCD by taking general education and other degree requirements. The A.A.S. degree in applied technology will be conferred by CCD after the general education and other degree requirements have been completed.
You may enroll concurrently at an ATC and CCD, but you must comply with the regulations and requirements relating to admission and attendance at each institution.
When 15 credits are added to the credits in the technical college certificate do not total to 60 or greater credits, additional courses will be coordinated with the program chair to ensure the degree meets the 60 credit hour minimum.
- 1
A state-approved career and technical education program is a program that is approved by the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) and is current.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
-
60-semester credits of coursework.
-
CCD will accept up to 45 credit hours of coursework from an approved certificate at an ATC. (Coursework that is more than 10-years old may not be accepted.)
-
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
-
General education course credits of 15-18 semester credits.
-
Minimum of 15-credit hours of general education requirements must be earned at CCD (see below).
-
Students completing an ATC certificate of less than 42 credit hours must complete additional credit hours at CCD from the approved general education list. These credit hours should be selected to complement the certificate from the ATC and be consistent with the student’s future plans. Students transferring a certificate with 30 or fewer hours will complete a minimum of 12 hours in a single career and technical education discipline. The specific courses must be selected in consultation with an academic advisor and be approved by the academic dean.
